NN19 - QA 3: Continuing Care

Addiction treatment has historically operated in the Minnesota Model, typically a 28-day intensive residential setting. As the field matures, the continuum of care has expanded to more effectively treat patients based on disease severity and placement in clinically-indicated levels of care. Despite this evolution, treatment has continued to focus on the acute disease stages and, in some cases, has not embraced the effective use of the continuum of care to address the disease’s chronic nature. The panelists in this session will discuss appropriate patient placement and progress through the continuum of care.

Session Time:
Monday, May 6, 2019 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm
Session Type:
Workshop
Learning Objectives:
• Understand consequences of over- or under-providing
• Understand placement criteria
• Learn the value of assisting patients in moving through the continuum of care
