Job Description

Encore Outpatient Services is looking for an experienced, licensed Clinical Director to join our amazing and dedicated team. Encore is conveniently located in Arlington, Virginia, in the Ballston metropolitan area, serving the Greater Washington, D.C. area and Northern Virginia. Since inception, Encore has been committed to providing the very best treatment for substance use and mental health disorders, specializing in the treatment of underlying trauma, addiction interaction disorders and process addictions. Our program provides a full-continuum of outpatient care, with holistic therapies, career coaching, family education and support, medication management, and community integration, all provided from a trauma-informed lens. Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop clinical programming curriculum.
Will oversee daily clinical issues, including but not limited to: meeting with patients or families as deemed clinically appropriate, responsible for decisions regarding unusual discharges, provide proactive direction in an effort to minimize crises.
Strategically focused to optimize programming quality and develop services.
Supervise assigned staff to focus on staff development, training, and supervision.
Review and sign all clinical documentation completed by unlicensed staff.
Provides weekly supervision sessions for clinicians (group and/or individual), clinical associates, and interns.
Provides leadership for the interdisciplinary team in a manner that encourages open communication, appropriate assumption of responsibility for patient care, and a high degree of initiative in resolving patient issues.
Conduct admissions screenings and/or assessments with prospective patients as necessary.
Conduct group therapy sessions in Encore program.
Conduct individual sessions with patients as needed.
Facilitate family sessions as needed.
Maintains strong relationships and communications with referral sources.
Facilitates regular open and closed chart reviews to support quality and determine needs. Ensure all documentation is timely and thorough.
Develop appropriate treatment plans and ensure patient follow through.
Ensure compliance with all licensing and accreditation requirements.
Support clinical aspects of utilization review including participating in peer to peer reviews as needed.
Participate in clinical staff meetings to evaluate patient and family needs and formulate treatment plans.
Determine staffing needs and assist in hiring, orientation and training of clinical staff.
Ensure all staff adhere to Encore’s clinical philosophy and ethical and professional standards when working with patients, their families, and other colleagues
Identifies and implements quality improvement processes for clinical operations.
Maintains strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and Title 42 CFR Part 2.
Be available for afterhours patient and direct care staff contact, when necessary.
Be responsible for maintaining active license and in good standing.
Conduct quality performance evaluations on all direct reports in a timely manner.
Will speak on behalf of Encore and develop presentations, lectures, and trainings as needed and indicated.

Experience / Education Qualifications:

Doctorate of Psychology and/or Doctorate of Philosophy (emphasis in Clinical Psychology) and/or Master’s Degree in Related Field with 4+ years’ direct client care experience;
Must be currently licensed to practice in Virginia.
Current active addiction certification or licensure preferred (e.g., CSAC, LSATP, CAADC, MAC)
Must have working knowledge of common problems related to addiction and other compulsive behaviors and process addictions.
Demonstrate the ability to provide multiple roles of clinical supervision, including consultant, mentor, team member, and administrator.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience with Masters and/or Doctorate Level Clinicians .
Experience developing clinical program curriculum using evidenced based therapies.
If in recovery, 2 years of continued sobriety preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have knowledge in working with addiction and other compulsive behaviors and understand basic principles and potential barriers to recovery.
Must possess an understanding of the emotional and behavioral effects of addiction.
Must have experience working with people with co-occurring disorders.
Must have working knowledge of attachment and trauma in addicted populations.
Must have experience conducting group, individual, and family therapy sessions, as well as conducting biopsychosocial assessments.
Demonstrate the ability to manage crisis situations calmly, proactively, and with a professional demeanor.
Must have good understanding of ASAM criteria for placement and continued care.
Must have good organizational and time management skills.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrate the ability to provide multiple roles of clinical supervision, including consultant, mentor, team member, and administrator.
