The National Association Urges its Members to Push Addiction Bills over Finish Line
As you know, the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers has been a key participant in the coalition to help pass legislation addressing opioid and other addictions. This bill is commonly referred to as CARA (Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act).
CARA and similar bills passed in the House of Representatives have been deliberated in a Senate-House conference committee. Yesterday the committee issued its report recommending passage of all of the components NAATP has been supporting. They also included substantial funding as part of the package. The Senate and House now need to approve the conference report.
Unfortunately we are getting close to election season. All of our hard work is now in jeopardy due to partisanship. More importantly, unless Congress acts hundreds of lives will continue to be lost due to this disease.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TODAY! Please call your Senator and Member of Congress and ask them to:
Pass the CARA Conference Report!
Congress needs to hear from voters that this is important and will save lives. Timing is critical. There are only days left before the August recess. Please call today.
