These are but some of the accomplishments of the NAATP Foundation for Recovery Science and Education (FoRSE) as we celebrate our fifth anniversary of operations. We have seen the program evolve from its inception in 2020 to a comprehensive data-driven initiative that empowers treatment providers with actionable insights, facilitates benchmarking against industry standards, and advances the field of addiction recovery through research and collaboration. As we move into our sixth year of operations and continue to grow in treatment center participation, volume of data, and influence, we begin by thanking those who have made this possible.
Our Donors
First, we thank the treatment community of donors - individuals, foundations, and treatment centers - without whom FoRSE would not exist. These donors came forward out of a commitment to our association and our field. The unique value of FoRSE is that it provides a centralized, collaborative, data-driven approach to measuring treatment outcomes across an array of treatment providers through the FoRSE API, which can receive data regardless of the type of collection tool used by a treatment provider. Our donors recognized the need for this initiative and entrusted NAATP FoRSE to do it. Foremost, we recognize our six Champion Level Founding Donors:
- First City Recovery Center
- Hubert and Richard Hanlon Trust
- High Watch Recovery
- Jaywalker Lodge
- Patterson Family Foundation
- The Guest House Ocala
FoRSE donors believe in the mission and vision of FoRSE. In the words of FoRSE Board Member Bobby Ferguson, founder of Jaywalker Lodge and Alpha Behavioral Health, “We are FoRSE Data Sites and Donors because I believe in NAATP and FoRSE and for me, FoRSE represents our absolute best hope for best practice. I give to FoRSE because I believe patient outcomes - and not reimbursement standards set by the insurers - should drive our care models. As a treatment field, we must be the ones to define best practice, and NAATP FoRSE is the entity best suited to do this for us.”
We are pleased to recognize all the donors who support our work.
Our Data Sites
Next, we celebrate our FoRSE Data Sites who worked with the FoRSE Team to establish a system for the delivery of de-identified patient outcomes data. Our progress is deeply rooted in the collaboration with numerous treatment centers that have embraced the FoRSE Outcomes Program. These partners have committed to sharing data, enriching our centralized repository, and fostering a culture of shared learning. Notable NAATP Provider Member participants include:
- Cumberland Heights: In addition to being the first treatment center to share de-identified data with FoRSE, their Research Institute has been a vital advisor and consultant throughout the development of the program and data reporting.
- Dilworth Center: As the first fully outpatient facility to join FoRSE, Dilworth was also one of the few centers to fully embrace NAATP’s outcomes work going back to 2016.
- Caron Treatment Centers and Gateway Foundation have both committed significant IT resources to ensure their full participation in FoRSE by developing internal connections to the FoRSE API.
Data Sites are authorized to display the FoRSE Data Site Seal once they are actively sharing de-identified data, indicating their commitment to improving treatment outcomes through benchmarking and data transparency.

Our Tech Partners
The Outcomes Program would not be successful without partnerships with the companies that facilitate the collection, storage, and delivery of de-identified data to FoRSE, and we thank them for their critical role in our success. The FoRSE Technology Partners create the essential connection to our database for their customers, allowing them to easily participate in the Outcomes Program. Notable tech partners include:
- Petree Consulting, Inc., who developed and supports the growth of the FoRSE Clinical Data Repository, provides customized data collection and reporting software packages that seamlessly link to our database.
- Kipu Health, the first electronic health record company to partner with FoRSE in 2022, has onboarded a high volume of new data sites to the Outcomes Program.
- Team Recovery was the first alumni support mobile app developer to connect to FoRSE, recognizing the additional value that Outcomes Program participation brings to their customers.

FoRSE Milestones
- 2020 Launch of the Addiction Treatment Outcomes Program, which consists of a centralized cloud-based data repository, a simple way for any SUD service provider to contribute data, and actionable analytic reports that empower providers to deliver the highest quality care.
- 2021 Development of Research Partnerships: Through collaborations with academics at several universities, FoRSE is working toward grant funding and publication in respected research journals. These research initiatives are crucial to the future of SUD healthcare, as they can advance evidence-based treatment, influence policy, reduce stigma, and contribute to improvement in clinical practice.
- 2023 Data Validation Guidelines: FoRSE developed and implemented Data Validation Guidelines which provided practical guidance to Data Sites and Tech Partners to improve data quality and ensure that reporting from FoRSE is most useful for purposes of business intelligence, quality improvement, and research.
- Publication of the 2023 Annual Summary and 2024 Annual Summary. Our comprehensive Annual Summaries offer valuable insights into treatment outcomes, underscoring participating providers’ dedication to transparency and continuous improvement.
- Delivery of Site-Specific Reports to Participating Treatment Centers: In 2023, FoRSE delivered 55 Site-Specific Reports, followed by 88 in 2024, to the facilities participating in the Outcomes Program. One of the most valuable aspects of FoRSE is its benchmarking capability, which allows treatment providers to compare their patient outcomes and performance metrics with aggregated data from other centers. These confidential reports provide data insights and business intelligence that help providers measure their effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and ensure they are providing the highest quality care possible.
- 2025 Construction of the Online FoRSE Data Dashboard that will allow FoRSE Data Sites to view their data, compared to aggregate data, on a platform that is updated daily. The Data Dashboard will also allow providers to filter data to view metrics across specific patient characteristics and treatment types.
Ensuring the Next Five Years of FoRSE
To sustain and expand our impactful programs, we invite your participation and support by becoming a FoRSE Data Site and supporting the work financially. By doing so you will join a community of elite practitioners dedicated to program improvement and the welfare of the field at large. Your participation will enable us to:
- Enhance our data collection and analysis capabilities.
- Develop innovative educational resources for providers.
- Advance research that informs policy and promotes treatment accessibility.
The journey of the past five years has been remarkable, but there is still much to accomplish. Together, we can continue to elevate the standard of addiction treatment and make an even more profound difference in the lives of those we serve. As part of that, we want to know how the work can best benefit you, the treatment provider.
