Both houses of Congress have now passed the 21st Century CURES Act, which provides $1 Billion over several years to address various aspects of SUD. The bill provides a comprehensive response to addiction that includes prevention, treatment, prescription drug monitoring, opioid treatment programs, drug courts, and other important components.
President Obama indicated he will sign the bill immediately. The nearly thousand-page bill also includes funding for cancer research which was part of the cancer “moon shot” important to Vice President Biden.
NAATP appreciates the response from our members who called their US Senator to ask for support of this important step forward to provide funding for SUD issues.
