Today HHS Secretary, Robert Kennedy announced a major change impacting the substance use disorder and mental health fields. A new agency called the Administration for a Healthy America (AHA) will be created and will subsume multiple agencies including SAMHSA. The newly created AHA will combine multiple existing agencies including, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OAH), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA), Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ASTR) and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
