Congress has been attempting to find a path to obtain enough votes to pass what they are calling the American Health Care Act. It would drastically change and repeal much of the Affordable Care Act.
NAATP believes that any national health care plan must provide access to care for Substance Use Disorder (SUD). In an attempt to garner the necessary votes for passage, the House, this morning, amended the bill to remove the 10 essential benefits contained in the Affordable Care Act. One of the 10 essential benefits is SUD treatment, including residential care. Instead they are providing $15 Billion for SUD treatment and maternity care. That money would be filtered to states through existing programs. It appears that this vote will be extremely close. NAATP has expressed our objection regarding elimination of the essential benefits.
