Betty Ford Center Children's Program - Colorado
Welcome to the Betty Ford Center Children's Program
Alcoholism and other drug addiction is a family disease, which is why the whole family needs help and support. Our Children's Program helps kids ages 7-12 who grow up in families hurt by addiction.
No child is turned away for lack of funds, scholarships are available. Our Children's Program is open to the public, and parents do not have to be patients at a Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation treatment center in order for their child(ren) to participate in the Children's Program.
In our safe, supportive environment, children learn basic facts about the disease of alcoholism and other drug addiction. Through a variety of interactive games and play, they come to understand key concepts such as:
- Loss of control
- Addiction as a disease
- Relapse
- Treatment
- Recovery
Most importantly, children begin to realize they are not to blame for a loved one's addiction. This program is a four day program.
