About This Organization:

Roots Counseling Services is a CARF accredited and Wisconsin state licensed treatment facility that provides long-term substance abuse treatment for adults over the age of 18. The Roots Counseling Services treatment program is designed to meet the needs of individuals who struggle with chronic relapse behaviors, substance use disorders, process addictions, compulsive behaviors and other mild to moderate mental health issues associated with substance dependence and addiction. The Roots program is designed for individuals who require a continuum of care beyond the standard 28-day residential treatment center program. Roots offers the following levels of care to its clients: partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient (OP) services. Roots uses the ASAM placement criteria to determine level of care. The majority of clients who complete an assessment are recommended to complete the PHP program per ASAM criteria met, which includes 2-5 weeks of daily group therapy 5 days per week and weekly individual therapy. The majority of clients who complete our PHP program will then transition to the IOP program, which includes 1-3 months of group therapy 4 days per week, and weekly individual therapy. The majority of clients who complete our IOP program will then transition to the OP program, which includes 1-3 months of daily group therapy 2-4 days per week, and weekly or biweekly individual therapy. Roots works to provide clients with various life skills to promote and maintain long-term sobriety, integrating relapse prevention training with concepts from community support programming, such as 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Heroin Anonymous (HA), and Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Mission Statement:

Roots is dedicated to helping clients and families to restore health and a sense of well-being and hope in their lives. Our goal is to empower persons served by Roots to end their use of alcohol and other drugs. We are committed to providing our clients with affordable, individualized, evidence-based, and effective treatment while staying grounded in the principles of 12-Step recovery. We believe this support can help clients bring about the change necessary to go on to experience a sober and productive life.

CORE VALUES

Clinical Excellence: Staff members continuously review their work to see that it meets the standard of quality and care to which we are committed. Roots provides a wide variety of continuing education opportunities to ensure that our clinicians are receiving the most up to date training on issues that are relevant to our clients. Our clients and alumni also provide valuable feedback.

Client Centered Care: Roots is client centered. This means that the needs of our clients drive the organization’s focus. Clients collaborate with their counselors to develop an individualized treatment plan. This treatment plan becomes the blueprint for their success at Roots and beyond. While chemical dependency treatment is not an exact science with proven protocols, the total involvement of persons served in their own treatment does correlate with demonstrated success.

Education: Roots group therapy curriculum includes the most current data on factors causing alcoholism and drug addiction. Clients learn about the impact of substance use disorders on physiological, psychological and social well-being.

Social support: A common treatment goal is successful reintegration into society. Clients have the option to schedule family sessions with their individual therapy counselor, and are encouraged to keep family and partners involved in their treatment goals. Clients are given assistance evaluating career or school choices.
