Treatment Leadership Set to Convene in San Diego as Addiction Crisis Worsens and Treatment Providers Respond with Innovation
The National Association is pleased to release its conference program for NAATP National 2022. NAATP’s 43rd National Addiction Leadership Conference will take place May 7-9, 2022, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego. The program, titled Using our Core Values to Define Value-Based Care, will address quality treatment delivery in the emerging environment through the lens of cultural humility.
An all-star faculty lineup will include the new Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) Dr. Rahul Gupta. The first physician to ever head ONDCP, Dr. Gupta said “President Biden has made clear that addressing addiction and the overdose epidemic is an urgent priority. As Director, I will diligently work to advance high-quality, data-driven strategies to make our communities healthier and safer.” Joining Dr. Gupta as conference faculty are Dr. Nicholas Kardaras, a national expert on screen addiction and the author of Digital Heroin, and Dr. Caroline Coker Ross who will tell Stories of our Ancestors to understand the impact of culture, race, and trauma on addiction. NAATP CEO Marvin Ventrell said:
This is a particularly important convening of leadership because we, as a profession, are at a critical juncture of establishing models of care that are both demonstrably effective and economically sustainable. Numerous outside interests influence the system, but only experienced professional providers actually see our patients and understand the reality of treatment. That voice needs to be stronger and unified if we are to achieve actual patient wellness.
The conference will conclude on the afternoon of May 9th when NAATP’s Foundation for Research and Education (FoRSE) reveals early data on its treatment measures and outcomes work. NAATP Director of Research and Education and Executive Director of FoRSE, Dr. Annie Peters said, “The maxim that you can’t improve what you can’t measure is a reality under which we must operate. It is our objective at FoRSE to do just that: measure and improve addiction treatment quality and prove our field’s value.”
The conference program is available now for attendee registration, exhibiting, and sponsorship. NAATP programs fill quickly and space for session attendance and exhibiting are limited. Only a handful of sponsorship opportunities remain available.
